The Waste Land by T.S. Elliot
When I read the tittle, The Waste Land, my first idea was that it was going to be some dark revelations that he came to, since we were told that he was writing this while he was in a depression. I could not have been more wrong, it is a collection of stories written and placed together, I have to say I was let down when I finished reading. I wanted to read profound thoughts and ideas that only he could see and convince me of and instead I was exposed to random stories. I have to say that I was disappointed in the reading and then I find myself asking, why do I not get the greatness that I hear the instructor talking about?
Maybe it is the time I live in, if your depressed then get to the point and talk about it. Not, write a bunch of stories that allude to your point after hours of discussion. It has to be the time I live in, with face book and self help everything, beating around the bush is not the society that I live in, we don't have time to sit and ponder, this is a society of it came to mind it must mean something and if not oh well it doesn't matter on to the next thing. Maybe we would benefit from sitting around and debating our true thoughts, and this is what I am suppose to see, as the greatness this author has, but to find out I would have to pay someone 120 dollars per hour to find out and who has the time for that?
